Maria – SInce we are located in NJ, we attend The National Capital Area Cake Show (sponsored by the Virginia Chapter of ICES). This year’s show will be held March 26 & 27 2011 at the Northern Virginia Community College Annandale Campus in Annandale, Virginia. There will be cake competitions, classes, live cake challenges by famous cake designers (as seen on TV), and lots of specialty vendors and demonstrations, too. Go to to get more info and register.

We’ve also attended the Great American Cake Show, which this year is on April 30th and May 1st 2011. It is held at the Shipley Arena, of the Carroll County Agriculture Center in Westminster, Maryland. It’s a smaller show than the NCACS but nice nonetheless. You can go to their site for more info:

FYI – The International Cake Exploration Societé (ICES) sponsors most of these types of shows. ICES is a “not-for-profit” organization that promotes and provides opportunities for continuing education, development of future sugar artists, and enjoyment of the art form in a sharing environment. For more information about ICES, about other upcoming events in your area, and to become a member, go to Hope this helps! Happy baking!
